HISTORY
History:
The First Presbyterian Church of Jackson Missouri was organized on May 15, 1864. Worship services were held in the homes of members until 1870, when under the direction of Church founder and ruling elder, Charles Welling, our first church was built. This Church was located at the corner of West Adams and Russell streets and led by Rev. W.W. Faris. In 1898, our first full time Pastor, Rev. Charles W. Latham led the plans to build a new church on the same site. Our current Church building located at 206 East Washington, was dedicated June 23, 1940. First Presbyterian of Jackson is a faith community that is part of Presbyterian Church (USA). Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
